Stimulate our Economy?
What happened to get us to this point!
Let's look at a couple of common procedures in the near past (among many others).
1) The STOCK MARKET: Within the last year I was trading $50,000 in the market. I applied for a margin account through Ameritrade and with a push of a key - I was making trades almost daily with $100,000! Yes after this new capital 'out of the air', used to gain $100 - after, would gain $200! But, of course, used to slide $200 and took a bite for $400! The talking heads and Government were reporting that more money was being injected into the market than EVER BEFORE! No, actually like in my case, I still was working with my original $50,000 but overnight added a false $50,000! When I ceased this activity, I pulled my $50,000 and the margin $50,000, so $100,000 was zapped out of trading. So, in big numbers with many other investors like me in the NYSE, $100 million dollars of REAL money eventually in the last year or so when the market was going great guns grew to $200 million. Then in 3 months when markets took a slide, we all dumped our inflated $200 million. 'The Sky is Falling!' There is 'PAPER MONEY' in our wallets and then there is 'PAPER MONEY' in our margin accounts! As with you, in my wallet it is worth 1 for 1 but in that account - it's 2 for 1; any one can make any stats make them say anything they want!
2) The REAL ESTATE MARKET:
Fact, I was there - totally illegal! My son was buying a new place for his family. Was getting a 1st and 2nd (loans). We went to verify that the HUD Settlement Statement was correct - the tax prorations etc. Two were produced, on the left was with the 1st (Primary Loan) and on the right was the one with the 2nd (Small gap $$ amount between the sales price & the 80% 1st Primary loan). TOTALLY ILLEGAL! ONE US GOVERNMENT HUD SETTLEMENT SHEET - ONE REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION - PERIOD - CASE CLOSED! Yeah, Right! I talked with many in the business (Loan & Real Estate), said that went on every hour of every day - everywhere! I demanded and got a consolidated single HUD... not an easy task, not happy people! So, when the 1st loan is 'SOLD' from one lender to an other, their records show that the 80% loan was it with 20% owner equity... If that practice is ILLEGAL, who is going to jail? Most of those folks could barely afford the 1st, much less with the second, much less the false low ARM rate the 1st year or 2 that they qualified on GOES UP!
